What A Dumbass

I admit it freely, but this weekend I really did a boneheaded thing. I erased most of my pictures..!!

Let me take you back. When I first bought the Nikon, I was using the Picture Project they sent with the camera. It automatically saved the pictures within the program itself. Then I purchased the Microsoft Picture Suite. Little did I know it was saving the pictures to the computer and pulling them up from there as I edited them. It never actually saved them to it's "program per se".
It also pulled all my existing photos of the Picture Project and rendered them useless. The new program won't let me edit, print or transfer any of those without my camera's memory card.
Which of course I reformatted. Yes of course. I reformatted it.
I told Macguffin he could erase all the photos off the computer thinking they were saved in the program. All my vacation photos, nature photos, kids, dogs.... AAAAAA!!!

Yep, Smooth

I have done alot of stupid things. This rates up there with the time I gave my Beagle a whole pack of bubblegum and then had to manually extract a bubblegum brick out of her butt...

I feel sick

Buy some image recovery software!! It's cheap and will scan your whole drive...those pictures are still tere until the space they occupied is overwritten by another file.

"tere"? There.

mm Card Recovery is good. Didn't have the addy before:

Also...while I'm in advice mode...back ups...DVD and external hard drive...re-save to new dvd's every three years (no, they don't last forever).

That stinks! I learned my lesson when my first computer crashed and I lost all the music I downloaded from the internet. That really sucked, and I'm still getting over it today.

Wow, that totally blows. I love technology, but it barely knows I'm alive. My car dies every week. I hate mock car funerals.

Glad to se your sense of humor coming around. I posted up again, as always. Thanks for the comment, you made me laugh.

Well, lots of shit makes me laugh

Dudes at office depot know jack crap...they're just there to shift units, not help customers.

That's terrible. I hope you can find a way to recover them. Don't trust the dudes at the Home Depot. Ask your kids if they know any teenage hackers that might be able to help. LOL

Serioulsy, I would get a couple of other opinions as to whether or not those pictures can be recovered.

Good luck!

Oh no, that totally sucks. :(

Home Depot?? Ahahahaa....
No those dudes try to sell you the wrong type of "hardware"!
Sorry. Had to give you hell on that one :O

silver- i am going to try and recover them of the memory card. let's hope

I'm so sorry, that's so fucking frustrating.

So there's no way they're in the recycle bin waiting to be recovered?

Blancodeviosa said...

mob- nope. we looked :(

In Ink said...

Blanco that software I mentioned will recover from our hard drive too if they haven't been overwritten.

That sucks! I lost my thumb drive awhile back and it had my novel I had been working on and was almost finished! Thankfully I found it a month later.

Holy Shit!!!!

I am SO sorry! :(

I just scanned my hard drive with that program just to be sure it works (I usually just recover cards) and it identified thousands of images inc. damaged (partially over-written) files.

Some people prefer Image Rescue 3 by Lexar for image recovery. I use it myself at work but just for cards so I don't know if it recovers entire hard drives. Contact their customer support to find out.

Oh, you can download a demo of mm Card Recovery...demo will identify but not save your files.

I should do this for a living...oh, wait...I do :)

You know, you're just going to have to write out your rage free form, and let every phrase contain the anger. Like flinging poo, but healthier. And more enetertaining on an intellectual level.

Blancodeviosa said...

eric- no, she figured that was a no no after both her legs were over, but by that point i was there making sure she didn't fall.

myutopia- i can imagine your frustration. a novel is a valuable thing to loose. at least it worked out in the end. :)

michael- ok i will buy it and cross my fingers.
and don't forget you analyze dreams too. very important on the resume :)

eric- i can't write anger today because i am just so friggin happy about... well read my next post!!!
